For BioNES 0.2's NES Palette

Click here to return to the main page.

These screenshots were generated by NEStopia; if you see any oddities at the top and/or bottom, that's because NEStopia's screenshots ignore overscan clip settings, thus showing the top and bottom 8 pixels that are normally hidden on an NTSC television (and in most emulators).

This palette is very similar to FCEUX's palette, minus a few differences -- the biggest of which being the lack of $2D and $3D grays, and the fact that $00 is brown instead of neutral gray!

Bee 52

Note how in the last screenshot, the fence lacks details, and the tree's trunk is non-existant.

The Immortal

Interestingly, BioNES does support Color Emphasis! ...But it doesn't work correctly; when all the bits are enabled, they're supposed to dim the screen. In BioNES, the screen is brightened instead!
Coupled with the lack of different brightnesses of black, and The Immortal looks very wrong.

Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt

Adventure Island II

Adventures of Lolo 2

Battle Chess

Some shading in the title letters and on the swords and helmet is now pure black, due to the lack of a $3D gray.

Super Mario Bros. 3

Adventures of Lolo 3

This screenshot was modified to show both parts of the rainbow simultaneously; it looks pretty much exactly the same as actual hardware -- just less flickery.

Battletoads

This is my personal favorite line from Professor T. Bird.

Bucky O'Hare

Dragon Warrior

Metroid

This screenshot was modified to simultaneously show both the background and the platform upon which Samus is standing; it looks pretty much exactly the same as actual hardware -- just less flickery.

Dragon Warrior III

Legendary Wings

The Legend of Zelda

Dragon Warrior IV

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
